Palin: warmth, work ethic and can do attitude

Another liberal feminist, Rebecca Johnson, writes why she likes Palin.  Here is an excerpt from her article in Telegraph:
I had been impressed with her when I interviewed her - not for her politics (I'm one of those east coast liberals she doesn't care about) but for the other things that people across the country are responding to right now:her warmth, her work ethic, her "can-do" attitude.

Life hands them difficulties -a Down's syndrome baby, a 17-year-old daughter pregnant before her life as an adult has even begun, a much-needed job on the oil and gas commission that comes with too many strings - and she is not flummoxed or depressed or angry or self-pitying. She endures.

In a perfect world, people would vote based on issues. Care about a woman's right to choose her own biological destiny? Vote pro-choice. Unfortunately, life is still a lot like high school. We vote for people we like, people who make us feel comfortable and heard.

Palin A Frontier Woman

Camille Paglia is well respected feminist and she may be changing her vote from Obama to Palin. She has written a great article and I hope you will find time to read it. Here is a short excerpt:
"It is certainly premature to predict how the Palin saga will go. I may not agree a jot with her about basic principles, but I have immensely enjoyed Palin's boffo performances at her debut and at the Republican convention, where she astonishingly dealt with multiple technical malfunctions without missing a beat. A feminism that cannot admire the bravura under high pressure of the first woman governor of a frontier state isn't worth a warm bucket of spit."

By the way, regarding lipstick comment which obama thinks is "blown up issue", Democrats website called her pig on August 30th. So this was not an innocent mistake as Obama wants us to believe. Here is the the link before they yanked it from their website.

Obama calls Sarah Palin a pig!

Politico reports from Virginia, that Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new strategy and said,  "You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig," and he went on to say,"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink.

Whatever Obama meant by this phrase, not only it will not go well with women, but also shows how he reacts to a female opponent.  Shame on you, Mr. Obama.  Is this the "change" you have been talking about?

Or was this comment targeted for John McCain and he meant She’s the lipstick and he’s the pig.  Either way it shows shows lack of class for Obama.

Palin and Fannie/Freddie Mess

Today, Gov. Sarah Palin had this to say in WSJ:

"We are strong advocates for the permanent reform of Fannie and Freddie. For years, Congress failed to act and it is deeply troubling that what we are now seeing is an exercise in crisis management rather than sound planning, and at great cost to taxpayers."
"We promise the American people that our administration will be different. We have long records of standing up to special interests and providing the leadership to change government and make it more accountable to the American taxpayer. In our administration, every agency and department will undergo rigorous oversight and review. We will require the highest standards of accounting, reporting and transparency ever demanded in government."

You go girl!!!

1) Chris Dodd $133,900
2) John Kerry $111,000
3) Barack Obama $105,849
4) Hillary Clinton $75,550

And they lecture us about "change we need" and "change we can believe in"?  Hmmm....

Palin "surge"

McCain had two successful "surge" strategies.  One was the Iraq surge and now by picking Gov. Sarah Palin he has done it again.  McCain had a fundraising in Chicago, Obamaland, and raised $4 million in one night! and he credits Palin for fundraising surge.

Lets the surge soar!

Why so many smears against Palin?

I'ts interesting to watch how left is trying sooooo hard to destroy Sarah Palin. It's a good sign!   They feel the threat and they feel how well she has connected to average people.  But I thought the left was champion of "average" people, what happened?

Well, thank God for the FactCheck.org has a lengthy analysis of some of the false claims circulating about Gov. Palin.  The analysis notes that many of the charges originated from a chain e-mail started by Wasilla resident Anne Kilkenny.

By the way, all the smears are debunked if someone bothers to read FactCheck.org

Palin & Plosi

I am tired of people disqualifying Gov. Palin based on "what if McCain dies?" argument. So I loved when a reader sent me this comment today:
"Palin being a heartbeart away from the Presidency if far more reassuring that Nancy Pelosi being two heartbeats from the Presidency"

Vice Presidency & Motherhood

It's just amazing how all of sudden we are debating the effectiveness of "working mothers". There are many politicians who had babies and run for an office, so why are they raising the question now? Here is the latest article on Gov. Sarah Palin little baby in New York Times.

"No one has ever tried to combine presidential politics and motherhood in quite the way Ms. Palin is doing, and it is no simple task. In the last week, the criticism she feared in Alaska has exploded into a national debate. On blogs and at PTA meetings, voters alternately cheer and fault her balancing act, and although many are thrilled to see a child with special needs in the spotlight, some accuse her of exploiting Trig for political gain.

But her son has given Ms. Palin, 44, a powerful message.
Other candidates kiss strangers’ babies; Ms. Palin has one of her own. He is tangible proof of Ms. Palin’s anti-abortion convictions, which have rallied social conservatives, and her belief that women can balance family life with ambitious careers. And on Wednesday in St. Paul, she proclaimed herself a guardian of the nation’s disabled children.

“
Children with special needs inspire a special love,” Ms. Palin said, echoing the message she had shared at the shower."

The September 15, 2008 Issue of Newsweek.

I have no idea if the cover is fair to Palin. We shall see?

Palin floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee

Wow, Dems are scared and I was delighted to read Willie Brown's article, who writes for SFGate. He defined Sarah Palin better than Republics did:
She didn't have to prove she was "of the people." She really is the people.

Palin Does Not Need Oprah

I guess you've already heard that Oprah will NOT invite Gov. Palin to her show.  Oprah is a supporter of Obama and had him twice on her show and also interviewed Michelle once for her magazine.  My reaction to this news, "Good , I don't want Gov. Sarah on Oprah's show.  Oprah need Palin more than Palin needs her".  Here is another bloggers reactions:

One of my favorite lines from her speech:

My fellow citizens, the American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of “personal discovery.”

Palin seems, upon further reflection, to be rather ill suited to play the role of patient/guest on the Oprah coach. She exudes confidence, refuses to whine,  and emphasizes action over good intentions.  What on earth would they have in common?

Sarah The Most Popular !

RASMUSSEN Poll:
Sarah Palin the most popular politician in
America.

UPDATE from Herald Tribune: "Sarah's appeal," Mystrom said, "is that she is everywoman and she became what every woman thinks she can become."

Palin's youngest daughter

What a cute and confident girl she is!

Palin's best defense!

Obama= writes and gives speeches
Palin= governs and reforms

So Margaret Thatcher was right when she once said: “In politics if you want anything said, ask a man. If you want anything done, ask a woman.”

Palin: Wonder Woman

Hurricane Sarah

Just some of the headlines about Hurricane Sarah and her performance last night:

CHICAGO Sun-Times:  Sarah Palin may come from the backwoods of Alaska, but she has the heart of a street fighter.
UK, The Sun:  Palin turned out to be an electrifying mix of intelligence, passion, energy, optimism and plain speaking.
Times Online:  She's like a moose going after a cabbage
Forbes:  Palin Power
Christian Science Monitor: With rousing convention speech, Palin becomes a force in McCain candidacy

Palin Power

wow, wow, wow..what we witnessed tonight was exceptional in American politics..a woman, a mother of 5 kids, a grand-mother to be, a mayor, a governor that we've never seen before.

Even if McCain loses, Palin will win! Here are some excerpts:

"Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge. And children with special needs inspire a special love."

“. . . there is a time for politics and a time for leadership, a time to campaign and a time to put our country first.”

“I might add that in small towns, we don’t quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren’t listening. We tend to prefer candidates who don’t talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco.”

SHE WAS A SENSATION!

Her full speech here

UPDATE: She was put on this earth to do two things: kill caribou and kick butt. (NRO BLOG)

Why media is so afraid of Sarah Palin?

From WSJ editorials:

"What's really going on here is that the Beltway class can see how popular the Palin pick is with Republicans outside Washington, and especially with middle-class conservatives. As Richard Land, a leader with the Southern Baptist Convention, said Monday, John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin closed the 'enthusiasm gap' between the two parties."

Read about Sarah

Here is the Book we've been waiting for. You can buy it here.

"In 2006 an angel-faced but tough 42-year-old former small-town mayor named Sarah Palin became a long-shot candidate for Alaska governor demanding a higher ethical standard in state government. The timing of her reform message and a widening scandal produced a tornado that reshaped the political landscape. Surprising everyone, Palin thumped by wide margins both a sitting governor in the Republican primary election and a former governor in the general election to become Alaska's first female chief executive and its youngest ever. "

Let's not forget she is 80% approval rating in Alaska after 2 years of governing.

UPDATE: "Sarah" is now, after 1pm Pacific, at #10 on Amazon's sales chart; it's the only biography in the top 10.

Compare Palin's experience to Obama's!

McCain's campaign boasts that their #2 is more experienced than opponents #1..no wonder the far left is so angry!

Sarah Palin's horoscope for 2008

Sarah's birthday is February 11th and her sign is Aquarius.  So I decided to look her 2008 horoscope and was surprised to read this paragraph.

"Professionally, 2008 will be a particularly upbeat and rewarding period, when you successfully establish yourself in new venues or brilliantly consolidate your present position. Your newly found confidence and poise will be apparent to all, and you’ll be the one everyone turns to for expert advice, or when the going gets tough. What’s more, with Jupiter on course for your birth sign in 2009, your achievements of this year are setting the stage for a particularly star-studded career cycle."

Can it be that astrology is correct in predicting the future? hmmm ...

Why we love Sarah!

"She walks the walk on Iraq as well.  Track joined the Army.  He is going to Iraq.  Sarah and Todd are laying their most precious possession, the life of their child, in harm's way for the sake of freedom.  Sarah Palin, like John McCain, can tell the American people that they know precisely what sort of sacrifices we all must be willing to make if America is to be safe and free.  The contrast between McCain-Palin and Obama-Biden on the personal sacrifices made for America is profound."

"The biggest catch, though, is Palin herself.  She seems utterly genuine.  Her life story sounds familiar and comforting.  Her words come from her heart.  Her ideas come from a mind not trapped in Beltway Newspeak.  We want change?  She is change.  More than just change, though, Sarah Palin represents change for the better.  She personifies all the goodness in America which we seem to have lost.  Her election will be a shot across the bow of every entrenched politician in the federal government.   As a nominee, Sarah works."

Palin has experience, Biden & Obama have speeches!

Huckabee on Palin:
"When life begins and how to treat it, how to respect it how to embrace it, how to elevate and celebrate every human life. And I'm so grateful that Sen. McCain has added not only to his extraordinary consistent record of voting for life issues but to put someone on the ticket and team with him who will uphold and share those values and those important principles that mean so much to us.

"Over the past few days we’ve been hearing all this stuff about how Gov. Palin doesn’t have experience let me tell you something - I can assure (you) having been a governor myself for ten and a half years, she’s had more executive experience in 2 years than her counterpart Joe Biden has had in all the years that he’s been making speeches because she’s been making decisions he’s been making just simple speeches," Huckabee told the crowd.

Sarah's fashion

I admit, I like it that Sarah Palin is not a "pantsuit" lady, but it's interesting to see how media is focusing on her shoes!! have they  done this to any other woman candidate?

RNC #2 Pick Vs. DNC #1 Pick

Political experience

Obama: Worked his way to the top by cultivating, pandering to and stroking the most powerful interest groups in the all-pervasive Chicago political machine, ensuring his views were aligned with the power brokers there.

Palin: Worked her way to the top by challenging, attacking and actively undermining the Republican party establishment in her native Alaska. She ran against incumbent Republicans as a candidate willing and able to clean the Augean Stables of her state's government.

Executive experience

Obama: Makes executive decisions every day that affect the lives of his campaign staff and a vast crowd of traveling journalists

Palin:Makes executive decisions every day that affect the lives of 500,000 people in her state, and that impact crucial issues of national economic interest such as the supply and cost of energy to the United States.

Continue to read here

UPDATE: How funny and sad that today Obama himself compared his experience to Sarah Palin's experience and got his facts wrong: Here s an excerpt:

“My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We've got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month,” Obama responded.

Just for the record, Alaska's FY2008 operating budget is $11.2 billion, and the state employs approximately 15,000 people. Those certainly aren't huge numbers in federal terms, but they're a good bit bigger than the Obama campaign.

Sexism for Sarah Palin is so passe!

Here is an interview she did last year with Monocle Magazine:

M: This is a very male state. Have you been a victim of sexism in your public career and in that regard, have your good looks and beauty-queen past hindered you?

Sarah Palin: If I have, I am totally oblivious to it. I haven't let it be an issue because it's just so passé, so 20 years ago to me. If anything though, what I have encountered, is age discrimination. It never occurred to me I was too young, but maybe I was. I feel pretty old right now. As for my looks [laughing], I don't know. Yes I did the beauty queen thing. But I was never a girly-girl. I did it for college scholarships. It paid for tuition for many years.

Wow! tha'ts my girl. I think it's time for woman stope wining about sexism specailly when they are elecetd for high offices.

Don't undestimate Sarah!

Herlad Tribune reports
"Sarah Palin for her entire political career has been underestimated," said Paulette Simpson of the Alaska Federation of Republican Women. "She's tough, she's tenacious. I believe that she does have what it takes to get out there. Again, her ability to connect with voters and make a case is very, very, very strong."

Also Bill Kristol reports in NYTimes:
"The day after the V.P. announcement, I spoke with an old friend, James Muller, chairman of the political science department at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. He said that Palin “has been underestimated over and over again. She took on the party and state establishments here in Alaska, and left them reeling. She’s a very good campaigner, a quick study and a fighter.”

Sarah Palin was not "last minute" pick

Many Democrats are saying that Sarah was last minute panic pick or she was not vetted. Not so, according to Washington Post report. McCain, was interested in her since the beginning of his wining the primary.

"McCain's campaign manager and the person at the point of the vice presidential process, said there was no abrupt change of course in the final hours. Nor, he said, was Palin selected without having gone through the full vetting process that was done for other finalists. That process included reviews of financial and other personal data, an FBI background check and considerable discussion among the handful of McCain advisers involved in the deliberations.
"Nobody was vetted less or more than anyone in the final stages, and John had access to all that information and made the decision," Davis said. "It's really not much more complicated than that."

So Sarah was not picked just because Obama did not pick Hillary.
